Thrivent reviews from employees current and past, Management problems dominate, Former employee: “Wolves in sheeps clothing”

People who live in glass houses or companies whose employees comment on Glass Door, shouldn’t throw stones.

The following comments are from current or former employees of Thrivent.

There are hundreds of them.

Many of them are positive.

But a surprising number are negative or damning.

There appears to be a consensus of non positive comments about management.

Even some that recommend Thrivent are critical.

Here are a few:

“Claims to be based on Christian values but does not adhere to them.”

Aug 18, 2016 Former Employee – Anonymous Employee in Minneapolis, MN

“I worked at Thrivent Financial full-time (More than 10 years)”

“If you think working in an asylum would be fun, then apply”

“No direction, petty narcissistic leaders, a completely nutty HR department led by the most damaged people in the history of business, timeliness that are meaningless. Oodles of cash with no ideas on how to spend it.”

“Least Ethical Company”

“Talk behind your back. Lie, cheat to get over you

Advice to Management

Replace the Whole HR department would be where to start. Because when they say something, and you question them they make it seem like you are not important and can’t tell you what policies or procedures are.”

“Wolves in sheeps clothing”

“Can’t stick to anything. Constantly changing and they use generousity to help themselves more than for just being generous.”

Sep 23, 2018 Former Employee – Anonymous Employee in Appleton, WI

“I worked at Thrivent Financial full-time (More than 10 years)”

“Lots of:
– Inconsistency across departments
– Finger pointing
– Hypocrisy
– Arrogance
– Instability

Not enough:
– Accountability
– Recognition/appreciation
– Proper on-boarding (except call centers?)
– Cross training within departments”

Mar 13, 2018 Former Employee – Financial Consultant

“I worked at Thrivent Financial full-time (More than 8 years)”

“Don’t Take Faith Based to mean values come before profit”

“If there is an issue, see outside counsel. Thrivent is faith-based and has a great mission, but the Managing Partners will fall to how they can optimize their revenue/income and will tend to look past issues for higher producers…even if that hurts another advisor. HR will support the opinion of the Managing Partner in almost all cases…even those involving ‘bullying’, battery or threats (physical and financial).”

“Look Behind the Curtain”

“Say they are a Christian firm but I only heard one person say “God bless” to me. Always got the impression I wasn’t wanted and something else was going on behind the scenes.

Advice to Management

Be genuinely Christian.”
